Dr. Farid Uddin, ED,CDB has attended SAARC regional consultation meeting on cotton technology which was held on 29-31 August 2016 at ICAR-Central Institute Cotton Research (CICR), Nagpur, India
SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC) has developed a regional project on cotton technology named as SAARC Regional Coordinated Cotton Technology Exchange Program and a regional consultation meeting was held at ICAR-Central Institute Cotton Research (CICR), Nagpur, India on 29-31 August 2016 to implement that project. Cotton Experts from SAARC member countries have participated in the consultation meeting. Dr. Farid Uddin, ED,CDB has attended in that consultation meeting and presented country paper as well. There was an opportunity to share with the cotton experts of SAARC countries specially India and Pakistan (big cotton growing countries) which will be helpful for our cotton Research and Development in Bangladesh. Every member country will go for conducting adaptive trial with germplasm from SAARC counties to select best suitable varieties for respective country and also conduct combine training for cotton scientists of member countries.We will try to fulfill our demand of short, drought and saline tolerant cotton varieties.
